A Nigerian senator, Jibrin, has said his group will deliver Kano State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, according to Vanguard News. He also questioned whether any rival faction can claim the Kwankwasiyya movement more legitimately than his own, the outlet reported.
The Kwankwasiyya movement is associated with Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor and presidential candidate. Jibrin's remarks, as reported by Vanguard News, frame the 2027 contest partly as a dispute over who genuinely represents that political following in Kano.
His comments came alongside other 2027-related statements reported by Nigerian outlets. Channels Television reported that Senator Umeh described claims that Peter Obi is not accepted in northern Nigeria as propaganda rather than fact. Punch Newspapers reported that a lawmaker in Anambra said the New Democratic Congress, or NDC, is setting up a 13-member structure in every polling unit. Independent Newspaper Nigeria also reported Umeh saying hardship means young Nigerians cannot be misdirected in 2027.
